Canine Heroes Kennel began in Kelowna, BC, founded by Chris & Karri Brinnen with a simple mission: to create a boutique kenneling experience where every dog feels at home. From the very start, our focus has been on quality, comfort and personalized care... treating every pup like part of the family.
In 2023, our Kelowna location closed its doors, but our vision lives on in beautiful Coldstream, BC. Today, Canine Heroes Kennel is proudly owned by Karri Brinnen, Emma Hare, & Riley Brinnen. Though our location has changed, our commitment to your dogs has not: we continue to provide a safe, caring, and welcoming space where your pups can relax, play, and thrive.
Whether it's for a night, a weekend, or an extended stay, we look forward to giving your canine companions the personalized attention they deserve.
From an early age, Emma was drawn to the companionship and loyalty of dogs. That connection has grown into a career of devotion to quality dog care.
With a background that includes working in professional kennel settings and developing strong canine handling skills, her calm, confident approach to handling allows her to work with dogs of all temperaments.
Canine Heroes Kennel is Emma's dream come true. Emma takes great pride in ensuring each guest receives the attention, exercise, and affection they need to feel right at home. It is truly an honour to be trusted with your canine hero.
With over 30 years of business experience, Karri brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the Kennel.
A true people person at heart, Karri loves building connections with clients and their beloved pets. But it's not all business... she's equally happy sharing a quiet moment with her feisty GSD, Jynx, spending time with family & friends, or traveling with her husband, Chris.
Karri's passion for combining professional excellence with genuine compassion helps make Canine Heroes Kennel a trusted, welcoming place for pups and their families alike.
Riley is both a student and an athlete, currently representing Team Canada on the national sit volleyball team while pursuing his education at Thompson Rivers University.
Though you may not see Riley around the kennel, his love for dogs is deeply rooted. Growing up alongside working police dogs, Riley developed a natural understanding of canine care, from playful pups to disciplined working dogs.
So much of where we are today comes from the vision and experience of our founder, Chris Brinnen. His deep knowledge of working dogs has fueled our passion to create a safe, welcoming space not only for family pets but also for police, search & rescue, and other dogs with important jobs to do.
Although Chris does not have an official role at the kennel, he continues to mentor and guide us with his expertise and dedication to our canine heroes... helping us honour the spirit in which Canine Heroes Kennel was first created.
